At PAX Prime 2012 in Seattle, Washington, gaming peripheral manufacturer Razer unveiled the update to the Razer Blade gaming notebook. Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the device, “The all-new Razer Blade is built to defy all conventions; it has extreme levels of performance and yet amazingly thin. The Blade features the next generation of Intel quad-core processors combined with powerful Nvidia GTX class graphics chips and the fastest RAM available, resulting in a machine that is insanely powerful.” The updated Razer Blade features a re-engineered, custom-built cooling system with larger vents.
A quick look at the revealed specifications suggests that Tan was not exaggerating. The notebook features an Intel Ivy Bridge Core processor, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M with 2 GB of GDDR5, 8 GB DDR3-1600 RAM, a 17.3-inch Full HD (1920x1080) LED-backlit display, integrated 60 Wh battery, 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 support, and a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard disk with a 64 GB SATA III SSD cache. Built into a lightweight aluminum case, the notebook has dimensions of 16.8 x 10.9 x 0.88 inches. The system weighs in at 6.6 pounds.
The updated Razer Blade carries a $2499 price tag and pre-orders will be accepted starting September 2. Razer will begin shipping the notebook to North American customers starting September 30.
